Mariam Kighenda’s vehicle has been retrieved from the Indian Ocean, 13 days after it plunged into the Likoni Ferry Channel.

The vehicle, which had plummeted 58 meters into the sea, was pulled out at 4:15pm Friday.

On Thursday, Government spokesperson, Cyrus Oguna, said they had ascertained that the bodies of Kighenda, 35, and that of her 4-year-old daughter, Amanda Mutheu, were still trapped in the vehicle when they spotted it Wednesday.

The development came a few hours after the Government announced that the 13-day exercise would come to an end on Friday, October 11.

The retrieval exercise was done by a multi-agency team comprising the Kenya Navy, Kenya Ferry Services Ltd, Kenya Ports Authority, the Kenya Coast Guard Service and the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute.
