There was drama at a meeting between the electoral body, IEBC, and presidential candidates on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, after a man attempted to disrupt it.

The man identified as Julius Kamau, an activist, stormed the meeting as IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati was taking questions from Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition's presidential running mate Martha Karua.

The protester carrying a banner demanded an audience with Chebukati before he was quickly whisked away by security officers.

"What I want is freedom," he was heard shouting shortly before he was ejected from the meeting room.

Four presidential candidates are being hosted by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati at Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club in Nairobi.

The candidates are William Ruto (United Democratic Alliance Party), Raila Odinga (Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition party ), George Wajackoya of Roots party and Agano party's Waihiga Mwaure.

Ruto arrives late for crucial IEBC meeting

The UDA party leader arrived late for the crucial meeting.

He had earlier sent Turkana governor Josphat Nanok and UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina to represent him at the meeting.

Nanok explained that Ruto had run late because of confusion in the schedule issued by IEBC.

Thorny issues touching on the printing of ballot papers and voter register are expected to take centre stage at the meeting.

Also expected to be on the agenda include issues on IEBC’s failure to make public a KPMG audit report, transmission of poll results and illegal transfer of voters.
