Nakuru woman has moved to court after a city man allegedly lured her into a fake airport job in Nairobi and defrauded her Ksh 60,000.

Lucy Hawa claims she unsuspectingly travelled to Nairobi to allegedly grab a reception job at the airports capital connect flights services only to realise the job was inexistent.

Upon reporting to authorities, the man identified as Bonface Odhek Ouko alias Peter Kamuri was arrested ten days later.

Kamuri was arraigned in Kibera court before resident Magistrate William Tulei but he denied the accusations levelled against him.

"Kamuri obtained Ksh60,000 from Lucy to which Ksh35,000 was handed as cash and the rest of Ksh25,000 was sent to him through M-Pesa” the charge sheet reads.

He was also accused of false pretence as on October 12 at Nairobi airport, Kamuri pretended that he was in a position to offer lucy a receptionist job at the capital connects flights services.

According to police reports, Kamuri had falsely enticed Lucy into a job that saw her travel to Nairobi.

She arrived at Wilson Airport at about 10:00 am and met with Kamuri who then asked her for the money to enable him to facilitate the letter of offer quickly.

After he was given the money, he told the complainant to hang within the airport as he went to get her letter of offer from the flight offices only for him to disappear completely.

Lucy tried to contact him in vain since he had already switched off his phone prompting her to report the matter to the police station.

Investigations commenced and in the process, Kamuri was caught from his hideout and taken in for questioning. It was established that the two numbers forwarded to the detectives used a common IMEI.

Kamuri’s mobile phone was recovered and will be used as an exhibit.

He was granted cash bail of Ksh100,000 pending mention on November 8.
