A middle-aged man from Machakos Town was hospitalised Tuesday morning after a tree fell on a vehicle he was driving.
The incident happened on the Susu Centre-Industrial Road at around 9am Tuesday.
The man, who was at the wheel, was in the company of a woman, who escaped unhurt. It remains unclear how the woman is related to the victim.
An eyewitness, Alex Musembi, who is a bodaboda operator in Machakos Town, told K24 Digital that he was riding behind the vehicle, a Suzuki model of registration plate KCB 995Q, when the tree fell on the car.
The female passenger, who wasn’t harmed in the incident, hailed a taxi and took the injured driver to the Machakos Level 5 Hospital.
It is suspected soggy soil and a compromised root system due to heavy rains pounding the area caused the falling of the tree.
