Embakasi: Man disarmed after shooting dog that attacked him

Police Officers have launched investigations into an incident where a private firearm holder shot a dog after it bit him outside a supermarket in Embakasi on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

The suspect, Hussein Abdi, had parked his car near a vehicle that had a dog inside. As he was entering his car, the dog bit him prompting him to shoot at it before driving to a nearby health centre for medical attention.

"The manager for Quick Mart Supermarket Embakasi reported that Abdi shot a dog after it bit him. The 55-year-old is alleged to be a licensed firearm holder," the police report seen by K24 Digital reads in parts.

Police officers disarmed him. His Glock pistol was loaded with 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The firearm was handed to the Embakasi Sub-County Criminal Investigation Officers for further investigations.

"The officers visited AAR hospital where they found Abdi in a stable condition inside his Mercedes KBJ 770R. He was disarmed the Glock pistol serial number BVKK87 which was loaded with eleven rounds of 9mm ammunition and handed over to SCCIO," the police report added.

Officers managed to recover one spent cartridge from the scene. The owner of the dog is yet to be traced.

Man mauled by dogs

In a separate incident that occurred along Mombasa road, a watchman died after he was mauled by four German shepherds at a container depot on Monday, October 11, 2022.

Prior to the incident, the deceased who was heading to work was chased by four dogs that cornered him at the yard of the depot nearby his workplace.

The dogs mauled him leaving him with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby clinic but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
