A 55-year-old man from Mwingi in Kitui County on Monday, April 13, collapsed and died after complaining of breathing problems and chest pain.

Justus Kavindu was walking to a bus stage with his daughter, Teresia Kavindu, when he suddenly began complaining of breathing difficulty and chest problems.

Shortly after raising the alarm over his health problems, he collapsed and died outside Co-operative Bank on the Mwingi-Garissa Highway.

An eye witness, Joyce Mwende, told K24 Digital that she rushed to the scene and asked the deceased’s daughter to call her mother.

“I asked the deceased’s widow whether her husband had a history of epilepsy, and she answered in the negative, saying her partner hadn’t reported being sick at all,” said Mwende.

Another eye witness, Joseph Mutua, said after Justus fainted, he called police who arrived at the scene and confirmed that Justus had died.

The 55-year-old man’s body was taken to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital morgue.

Mwingi Sub-County Police Commander, Peter Mutuma, said investigations, including COVID-19 tests, will be conducted to ascertain Justus’s cause of death.
