President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to lead Mt Kenya region in helping ODM leader Raila Odinga garner more votes.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli says Uhuru should lead his region to support Odinga the same way he led in supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Speaking in Mombasa, Atwoli said Odinga was bound to win the August 9 election and President Kenyatta should be part of the victory by leading voters from his region.

He told President Kenyatta not to fear remarks from leaders in the other political outfits about Raila being a state project stating that times and dynamics have changed.

"We know where we are coming from and where we are going. Nobody should threaten you about Raila being a project or otherwise. 2002 had different dynamics. Lead central Kenya as you led them during the BBI," he said.

Atwoli made the remarks as Kenya Kwanza leaders continue to impose Odinga as a state-funded project.

In their rallies across the country, the political outfit led by Deputy President William Ruto has been depicting the former premier as a project fronted to tame Ruto's bid to ascend to the most powerful position in the country.

They have often told Kenyans to reject Odinga on that basis.
