A section of Noonkopir residents, Kitengela have today engaged police officers in running battles.

The residents who mainly comprised of Bodaboda riders staged protests over a complete bridge in the area that has remained unusable.

The bridge, which connects Kitengela town and the populous area, was constructed by the county government but remains unusable as deep trenches have been dug around it thus discouraging its use.

Agitated residents lit borne fires on the road blocking motorists as they engaged police in cat and mouse games demanding the opening of the bridge.

Residents term the delay as a political gimmick that has left them suffering.

They claim a section of leaders want to use the opening of the bridge to gain political mileage as they continue suffering while plying the route.
