Tanzanian singer Zuchu was forced to apologize after a video from last year resurfaced online.

The apology follows criticism from fans and netizens who drew attention to a past interview where they claim the songstress is heard ‘mouthing’ a ‘Swahili slur’

Taking to Instagram, the ‘Sukari’ hitmaker, however, maintains that part of the footage is being misrepresented. She focused her apology on that but did not admit any wrongdoing.

“Habari !

(Hi, in the recent past a video from my past interview resurfaced online with netizens trying to twist it. However, I still maintain that I used the word ‘Mtambo’ and not what people are trying to insinuate.)

Na naomba mpuuzie upotoshaji huu unaoendelea,” she wrote.

(I’m sorry to everyone offended following the misrepresentation and I hope this stops moving forward)
