Budding gospel artiste Audrey Chibole, known to many as Audrianna, is no more.

The 22-year-old who is visually impaired is famed for her song Niko Sawa that featured Kenyan media personality Anne Ngugi’s daughter, Angel Wanjiru.

A music and Kiswahili student at Kenyatta University, Audrey Chibole passed on while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Women’s Hospital on Tuesday night.

Her mother, Lilian Munyendo, who spoke to People Daily on phone revealed that her daughter started complaining of joint pains two months ago and was taken to Kakamega County Referral Hospital where she was treated by a bone specialist. However, she did not get any better.

“I realised that her stomach was swelling and further tests revealed that she had an enlarged liver and severely damaged lungs. They also discovered a solid mass in her stomach, which they said was a cyst and it was removed,” she narrated.

She was moved to Nairobi Women’s Hospital on Thursday last week where she was diagnosed with Stage Four Liver Cancer, which had spread to other organs such as the ovary and the lungs.

“She was put on oxygen for the better part of Tuesday and in the afternoon as her condition deteriorated, she was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit where she died,” Lilian said.

Following her death, countless people including fellow musicians and fans have thronged social media to condole with her family. May her soul Rest In Peace.
