KeNHA announces closure of another section of Uhuru Highway

The Kenya National Highways Authority ((KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of the Uhuru Highway between Haile Selassie Avenue Roundabout and Rubis/Neno Evangelism Church.

In a statement shared on Friday, March 29, 2024, the authority said the closure is scheduled to start from Sunday, March 31, at 10 pm to Monday, April 1, 2024, at 5 am.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway 9Mombasa Bound Lanes between Haile Selassie Avenue roundabout and Rubis/Neno Evangelism church detour. This closure is scheduled to commence from Sunday, March 31, 2024," KeNHA said.

According to KeNHA, the closure of the road is meant to allow the installation of service ducts.

Motorists have been advised to adhere to the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.

Earlier, KeNHA had also announced the closure of the Uhuru Highway 9A8) between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound0.

In the announcement, the authority said the closure will commence from Thursday, March 28, 2024, to 11.59 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

The closure was meant to allow the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Nairobi Main Campus and Chiromo Campus.

Following the move, motorists were advised to seek alternative routes such as as Harry Thuku Road, Universit Way, Prof Wangari Mathai Road, and Kipande Road.

The motorists were also urged to approach the affected areas with caution and follow the traffic signs as directed by police and traffic marshalls on site.
