Ken Okoth’s widow, family have neglected my baby – Anne Thumbi

Nominated Nairobi MCA Anne Thumbi has accused the late Ken Okoth’s family of neglecting her son, who was confirmed as the late Kibra MP’s scion on Thursday, September 5.

Thumbi says ever since Okoth died on July 26, her 4-year-old son’s education has not been funded by the late lawmaker’s widow, Monica, and mother, Angeline Ajwang.

Through her lawyer, Elkana Mogaka, Thumbi says none of the family members of Ken Okoth has ever contacted her to inquire about the child’s welfare.

In an affidavit filed at the Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, Thumbi submitted the results of her son’s paternity test, which revealed that there is a 99.9 per cent chance that the late Okoth is the biological father of Thumbi’s son.

Thumbi’s other lawyer, Danstan Omari, said they are now seeking to be heard by the court. They want Thumbi’s son formally declared a beneficiary of Ken Okoth’s property.

Thumbi also wants the court to direct that the child’s welfare should be taken care of by members of Ken Okoth’s family, including his widow, Monica.

“Ken Okoth’s family is yet to pay a shilling for the child’s education. Since the MP died, Thumbi has been neglected by his family,” said Mogaka.

“The minor is Okoth’s only child,” added the lawyer.

The court will, on Wednesday, September 18, hear Thumbi’s application.

Anne Thumbi and Ken Okoth met in 2013, and their relationship yielded a baby boy in 2015.
