Kakamega: Residents shocked after man conducts mock burial of his estranged wife

Residents in Emakhwale village Mumias East, Kakamega county were left astonished after a man conducted a mock burial of his estranged wife.

It is said that the man identified as Jack Shiundu,32, allegedly dug a hole and buried a photograph of his wife together with a small coffin wrapped in two pieces of cloth.

According to the neighbours who stated that Shiundu and his wife Lydia Masakhwe bought the parcel of land a year ago, the coffin was discovered by a farmhand tilling the land.

The neighbours added that the woman left her matrimonial home alongside her child following the frequent disagreements she had with her husband.

Kakamega residents say abandonment triggered man's actions

Following the turn out of events, neighbours believe that the abandonment triggered the man's actions.

Lydia's family now pledges to conduct a cleansing ceremony in accordance with the Luhya traditions.

They further called on the police to arrest Lydia's husband who has since gone into hiding.
