A family in Keirangu Embu west today held a birthday party to celebrate their grandmother who is now 112 years old.
Julia Kabuchi's birthday celebration held in her home compound was occasioned by songs and ululations with people terming her age as a blessing to the community.
Kabuchi celebrated her long life where she was surrounded by family members stretching to the fifth generation alongside friends, and neighbours.

The granny who still is strong attributes her age to eating natural food and avoiding stress which may interfere with her health. She further says the love she receives from other people motivates her to keep ageing.
Simon Njeru, her firstborn says that her mother feeds with natural foods like bananas, ugali and, rice.
Kabuchi also lauded the government for including her name among the aged persons in the country and she says she benefits from a government monthly stipend for the aged.
Peter Murithi, her grandson says as a family they are happy for what God has done to them granting their grandmother 112 years counts as a blessing.
Kabuchi hopes to hit more than 130 years and have her name in the Guniss book of records as the oldest person in the world.
Currently, the oldest living person is Kane Tanaka of Japan, aged 115 years.
