The Isiolo-Merille Road has been rendered impassable due to flooding and heavy siltation overtopping the road at Kirish Centre.
In a statement on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) warned motorists using the road to exercise caution while using the road.
"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify and caution motorists plying the Isiolo-Merille Road of flooding and heavy siltation overtopping the Road at Kirish Centre rendering it impassable," the statement read in part.

This comes even as the country experiences high rains, causing floods in some parts, especially the Northern and Nort-Eastern regions.
"The public is advised to exercise caution when driving along this Road section both during the day and night. Motorists are advised to exercise patience as the Authority clears the affected section to allow passage of traffic," KeNHA added.
KeNHA closes another road
On Tuesday, KeNHA announced the closure of the Garissa-Daadab (A3) Road at Saretho Town which is 30 kilometres from Daadab Town and 60 kilometres from Modika Town.
The closure follows the floods in the area, which have left the road submerged in water, rendering it impassable.
"This has been occasioned by the ongoing heavy rains that has led to flooding water crossing the A3 Road extensively eroding the existing road edges and the murram at the approaches to culverts hence making it very dangerous for road users," KeNHA stated.
As a result of heavy rains being experienced in several parts of the country, the public has been advised to avoid travelling at night, driving on off-road pathways and driving in moving sheet water to avoid potential accidents and injuries.
