Residents in Embu town are currently evacuating tenants who have been trapped in one of the rental house which caught fire at Matakari area of Dallas estate after a suspected gas explosion.

Embu county government fire brigade have since rushed to the scene and are currently on site as they try to put off the fire.

No casualties have been reported yet, while the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

There has been a rise in inferno cases in recent days at the said area, with resident crying foul of faulty gas cylinders.

Kirimari ward MCA Morris Nyaga who responded to the distress call from locals termed the incident as unfortunate.

The MCA said property worthy Ksh 2 million was destroyed, with tenants loosing valuable house items.

"I want to thank Dallas residents for their quick response when this fire started, they have been able to work together with fire extinguishers and the fire was contained," Nyaga said.

Nyaga said there is need to increase the fire extinguishers so that they can help in addressing cases of fire in Embu town.

Sarah Njeri a resident in Dallas said that the fire was as a result of gas explosion.

"The fire was as a result of gas explosion, but thank God no one has been injured in the fire tragedy," Njeri said.
