The life of lawyer Willie Kimani could have been saved if the lady cop said the truth, a witness has told the court.

The murder trial of four police officers accused of killing lawyer Willie Kimani resumed at the High Court today.

Testifying before trial judge Jessie Lessit, Nicholas Ole Sena, a DCI officer who is witness number 44 told court that Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and driver Joseph Muiruri could have not died on June 23, 2016, if Silvia Wanjiku who is one of the accused persons was truthful that night.

"Your honour, Sylvia Wanjiku was in charge of the cells and she had knowledge that the three men were in the cells, but she declined to give out the information which was useful in saving them," Ole Sena said, in response to the cross-examination by lawyer Katwa Kigen who represents Wanjiku.

Ole Sena added that Wanjiku who was the booking officer in charge of the Syokimau police post on the night of the brutal killings was in charge and had keys to the cell where the three were held before they were taken to a field in Soweto area in Mololongo and murdered.

Ole Sena asserted that she knew the three had been detained in the cell yet she chose to keep quiet when she was questioned about it thereby playing a big role in the conspiracy to kill the three men.

The witness however added that investigators did not connect her to the calls that were made by the suspected killers, but that does not absolve her from the scheme that was hatched to kill the three.
