The DCI detectives on Wednesday, August 14, arrested Kenyan disc jockey, Moh Spice, whose real name is Nicholas Mugo Mwangi, after he was pictured “displaying” a gun during a party in Nairobi last weekend.

Moh Spice had attended DJ Kym Nickdee birthday celebrations at K1 Club, when a pistol tucked in a pair of jeans trousers around his waist area got displayed.

DCI officers now say they have since arrested the DJ “to help with investigations”.

Moh Spice was arrested at Space Lounge Club on Ngong Road in Nairobi.

“A Steyr pistol and 174 rounds of ammunition [were] confiscated,” said the DCI in a Twitter update posted on Thursday.

It remains unclear whether the DJ is a licensed firearm holder.

The DCI said they swung into action following “public outcry”.

On June 28 this year, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said that private gun holders brandishing the weapons in nightclubs, bars and other social joints will have the firearms taken away by the State.
