Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i has extended the dusk to dawn Curfew in Marsabit for another 30 days.

In a gazette notice, the CS stated that the curfew takes effect from June 1.

“The curfew in the county of Marsabit shall remain in effect for a further period of thirty days with effect from 1st June 2022, between Six O’clock in the evening and Six O’clock in the morning,

"Under the order, there shall be no public gatherings processions or movement either alone or as a group during the period of the curfew except as has been permitted in writing by the Inspector General of Police,” the Gazette notice reads in parts.

This follows the lapse of the previous curfew period enforced on May 2, 2022.

The security boss noted that the motive of the extension is to help them meet their target in the operation launched to curb insecurity following a spate of attacks in the region.

So far, 120 weapons and 1300 rounds of ammunition have been recovered since Operation Rejesha Amani Marsabit was launched on May 2.
