Nairobi, 6 other counties to be affected by Tuesday’s blackout

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power blackout affecting seven counties on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

The utility company cited network maintenance as the reason for the planned interruption.

In Nairobi County, the blackout will impact various areas including Kenyatta University, Kahawa Barracks, Farmers Choice, Kahawa West, and adjacent customers. The outage is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Similarly, parts of Lavington will experience a power outage during the same timeframe. This includes areas along Amboseli Rd, Convent Rd, Loiyangalani Rd, James Gichuru Rd, and several others.

Residents in Westlands will also be affected, with a blackout planned for areas along General Mathenge Rd, Donyo Park Apts, Asmara Restaurant, and neighbouring regions.

In Kiambu County, Kiukenda and parts of Kiamumbi will experience a power interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This includes areas such as Mugumo, Kiu River Pri, St. Anthony, Mathenge Technical, and more.

In Nyeri County, the outage will affect areas including Chaka, Karundas, Mbiriri, Leseru, and Lower Sosian from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Residents in Uasin Gishu County should expect a power blackout in areas around KenGen Station, Lower Sosiani, Leseru, and Kaptiga Pri from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Kirinyaga County will experience a blackout affecting Kagumo Town, Mutira Girls High School, Kabonge Center, and adjacent areas from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Lastly, in Homa Bay County, Gendia, Simbiri, Nyafare, Otula, and other areas will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Kilifi County will also be affected, particularly areas around Vipingo including parts of Bofa, Navy, Baobab Hotel, and Kilifi Bay Hotel, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
