Pandemonium broke out at the Kirinyaga County Assembly on Tuesday morning as two ward representatives were kicked out of the sitting that is readying to vote on a motion to impeach the local governor.

Nominated MCA Lucy Njeri and the Karumandi ward rep Anthony Munene were violently bundled out of the assembly.

Some 24 MCAs spent the night at the Assembly's lounge to avoid losing their numbers over fears that Governor Anne Waiguru would dissuade them to abandon their cause.

On Tuesday morning, Governor Waiguru warned that she will seek orders for contempt against the Assembly Speaker for violating a court order that halted the ouster motion.

"I sought and obtained a clear and unequivocal court order from the High Court stopping any proceedings by the Assembly on the impeachment motion until the numerous issues that were raised with the court were determined," said Ms. Waiguru.

Further, the county boss said that the allegations against her are baseless and accused the MCAs of being used as stooges for personalized political goals.
