Banisa MP Kullow Maalim Hassan is dead

Banisa MP Kullow Maalim Hassan is dead.

Hassan died on Tuesday night while receiving treatment in Nairobi after a hit-and-run motorcycle accident which happened on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

According to the family, the legislator was hit by a speeding motorist at Capital Centre and was taken to Reliance Hospital in South C before being transferred to the Aga Khan hospital. 

He is survived by three wives and 16 children.

The second-term MP was first elected to Parliament in 2017 on an Economic Freedom Party (EFP) ticket. He later defended his seat in 2022 on a UDM ticket. 

Eldas MP Adan Keynan termed Hassan as an illustrious leader and a devoted public servant.

"Kulow was the epitome of an illustrious leader, a devoted public servant and an amiable figure in the community who discharged his leadership responsibilities with great honour and dexterity," Keynan said.

"I share my deepest condolences with the family, friends and people of Banisa following this unfortunate loss and pray that Allah (SWT) will grant them sabr and comfort during this lowest moment. May Allah grant his soul Jannatul Firdaws. Amiin Amiin."

In his condolence message, Mandera West MP Adan Haji termed Hassan as a great leader and a devoted Muslim.

"Maalim was a great leader and a devote Muslim who have played a pivotal role in our society," Haji said.
