Five people were on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, arrested along the Minjila-Mokowe route in Lamu county while transporting 246 rolls of bhang worth Ksh250,000.
The five, three men and two females, were travelling in a metallic grey Toyota Voxy with the bhang cleverly stashed inside a spare tyre.

Police from Mokowe police station were tipped by a member of the public who had suspected the vehicle to be transporting suspicious goods.
“While on a routine mobile patrol earlier in the day, received a tip-off from a member of the public concerning a vehicle carrying suspicious goods plying the Minjila-Mokowe route. The officers immediately swung into action, setting up a roadblock at the Koreni area where they flagged down the vehicle, a metallic grey Toyota Voxy,” National Police Service on Twitter.

Suspects to be charged for trafficking bhang
DCI officers from Hindi who are currently handling the case will prefer the appropriate charges for the five suspects.
The National Police Service called on Kenyans to avoid drug indulgence through trafficking and usage following the arrest of the five.
“We continue to discourage indulgence in drug trafficking and use, we continue to reiterate our commitment to our role against drug and substance abuse,” police stated.
