Five members of one family from Gaikuyu area in Mathira East in Nyeri County were burnt to death on the night of December 25 after their house went up in flames.
The cause of the fire -- which razed the house to the ground -- remains unknown.
Those killed are a man, his wife, their two children and the wife’s cousin.

Police say they are investigating the cause of the inferno.
Residents put the blame on area firefighters accusing them of “arriving too late at the scene despite receiving distress calls early enough”.
Bodies of the five were taken to a Mathira hospital morgue.
