Four suspects linked to Ksh3.5 billion Anglo Leasing scandal have been acquitted.
Mombasa Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku set the accused persons free for lack of sufficient evidence.
The four are businessman Deepak Kamani, his brother Rashmi Kamani, former Treasury Principal Secretary Joseph Magari and former PS at the Office of the President Dave Mwangi.
"They have all been acquitted under section 210 of the criminal procedure code. They have no case to answer. They have been set free," the magistrate said on Friday.
The four had been accused of conspiring with other individuals to defraud the government of Ksh3.5 billion through a suppliers credit contract agreement for the modernisation of the Police Security Equipment and Accessories Project.
They allegedly committed the offence between October 30, 2003 and April 14, 2004.
The ruling comes a year after former Finance Minister Chris Obure was cleared of similar charges in a Ksh928 million Anglo Leasing case.
In a ruling delivered in June last year, Obure was acquitted alongside former Transport and Communication PS Sammy Kyungu and ex-Finance Secretary Samuel Bundotich.
Trial Magistrate Anne Mwangi, while freeing the accused persons, said the prosecution did not provide sufficient evidence to warrant a conviction of the trio.
The magistrate further noted that the trio did not directly benefit from the funds, as demonstrated by their lawyers.
The three had been accused of authorizing Ksh928 million for use in the postal corporation security project.
They were also found with a case to answer on abuse of office and breach of trust charges.
