A family in Korogocho slums, Kariobangi North, Nairobi county has been thrown into mourning after their children died during a fire incident.
Confirming the incident, Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said that the three boys aged 14, 12 and 8 were burnt beyond recognition during the incident. He noted that the trio was asleep when the fire broke out.
He also said that police are yet to establish the cause of the incident.

“The fire broke out past midnight burning down the house where the boys were. We are yet to establish the cause of the fire,” he stated.
The fire also destroyed property of an unknown value and houses nearby.
According to witnesses who spoke to police, the parents of the victims had travelled out of town at the time of the incident.
The remains of the victims were moved to a nearby morgue.
Separate incident
Elsewhere in Gigiri, a family is grieving the loss of their kin who was killed by his employee under unknown circumstances.
81-year-old Gerson Mwita, who was a consultant at the Leadership Institute of Kenya was found lying in his garden with a deep cut on the back of his head.
He also had additional injuries on his face and bruises on his back.
“Daniel Mwiti, the son of the deceased, reported that the gardener had killed his father where a duty officer and his team rushed to the scene and found the body of Dr Gerson Mwiti a Meru aged 81 years a consultant at Leadership Institute of Kenya and the owner of the said Home lying at his garden with a deep cut on the head, the body had additional injuries at the face and bruises at the back,” the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.
The suspect identified as Bernard Komu disappeared from the homestead to an unknown destination.
Officers from the Director of Criminal Investigations based at Gigiri have launched investigations into the incident.
The body of the deceased was taken to Lee Funeral Home pending a post-morterm.
