A handful of Kenyan celebrities have injected millions of shillings into construction projects meant to give them their dream homes.
Some of the celebrity mansions have been under construction for years, gulping lots of money in the process.
Below are some of the musicians who are expected to complete their mansions this year.
Khaligraph
Khaligraph Jones' mega-mansion is nearing completion after nearly three years of construction.
The rapper started building his mansion in February 2022.
Khaligraph has been giving his fans an update on the construction progress from the day he was laying the foundation to the current phase where the mansion is undergoing final touches.
Speaking during an interview in November 2022, Khaligraph said he was building a huge mansion to show his success.
“I show my successes because it’s something that wasn’t shown by guys who were here before us,” Khaligraph said.
“I’m building a home to show other musicians that it’s good to invest because, with this industry, things can change, but if you have a place to call home where you don’t pay rent, it’s safe for the family,” he added.
Khaligraph further said that his mansion's construction was progressing slowly because he didn’t have all the money that was required to build the house at a fast pace.
DJ Mo, Size 8
Celebrity couple DJ Mo and Size 8 held a groundbreaking ceremony on April 20, 2022, to mark the beginning of the construction work for their new house.
In August 2023, the mix master gave an update on the progress of their mansion.
DJ Mo said they had spent a staggering Ksh23 million on their mansion as of August 2023 with construction projected to end in January 2024.
“It’s our family palace, so we have to take time and customize it to our standards. We shall also import some of the fittings," DJ Mo said during an interview with Nation Africa.
DJ further revealed that the anticipated completion budget of the mansion was Ksh48 million, up from the initial Ksh40 million that they had planned for.
Earlier in June 2022, DJ Mo lamented that the mansion was draining his bank account when he had only spent Ksh2 million on the foundation alone.
The mega mansion will have six bedrooms, a prayer room, a home theatre and a studio.
The mansion is located in the Daykio area on Kiganjo Road off Thika Road.
Mulamwah
Comedian David Oyando popularly known as Mulamwah has sunk millions into a project aimed at erecting a huge mansion in his rural home in Trans Nzoia county.
Mulamwah started constructing his dream mansion in June 2022 and has been updating his fans on every stage of the construction.
In October 2023, Mulamwah offered a sneak peek of the ongoing construction by sharing a video from the rooftop of the yet-to-be-completed lavish property.
The video featured Mulamwah alongside his 'bestie', Ruth K.
"Pole pole tu, inawezekana 🙏🙏 God has been great, let no one tell you that you cant !!!, trust in your self, believe in your dreams, pray to god and do your best. one day you'll sit back and say i did it 💪💪," he captioned.
Nicholas Kioko
YouTuber Nicholas Kioko is among the celebrities who are currently constructing huge mansions.
Kioko is putting the final touches on his family mansion in his rural home.
In his latest update in December 2023, Kioko together with his partner Wambo Ashley and their twin babies were seen visiting the construction site after it was painted.
Eve Mungai
Eve Mungai is putting up a huge mansion in the village for her parents.
In December 2023, the YouTuber showed the construction progress of the house as she expressed her satisfaction with the work done so far.
The house was nearing completion with only interior works remaining.
"Good job," Eve Mungai captioned the photo of her parent's mansion under construction.
