Willis Raburu has resigned as the chairman of the Nairobi Festival committee.
In a letter dated October 30, 2023, the media personality said that today morning he officially informed the leadership of the county of his decision to step aside.
"This morning I have officially informed the leadership of the county that I will no longer be serving in my current capacity as chair of Nairobi Festival Committee. It has been an honour to work alongside Governor Sakaja and his administration, and I would like to express my deep gratitude for the trust and opportunity that they have extended to me during my time here," Willis Raburu's resignation letter reads in part.
The media personality explained that the decision to resign was rooted in his belief in the pressing need for systemic change to improve service delivery and leadership within the county.
"However, this decision is driven by a recognition of the pressing need for systematic change to enhance the effectiveness of our service delivery and leadership. It is clear that to better serve the county and its residents, a more comprehensive look at existing systems is essential, which to be fair, have already been instituted and I wish them all the best in this regard," Raburu said.
"I firmly believe that with the right structural adjustments and collective commitment to positive change, we can pave the way for a brighter future. My hope is that this decision will serve as a catalyst for the necessary transformation that our county deserves," he added.
Even though he has resigned, Raburu nonetheless vowed to continue supporting the county from the sidelines.
"I remain dedicated to supporting the county from a different vantage point and will continue to work towards the betterment of our community. I thank the county leadership for the opportunities I have been given and look forward to witnessing the positive changes that will result from this pivotal moment."
Nairobi Festival
The inaugural Nairobi Street Festival kicked off on December 12, 2022, at the renovated Uhuru Park in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).
Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja himself officially launched the six-day Nairobi Festival.
Sakaja vowed to make the festival an annual event thus the committee was formed to steer the activities of the Nairobi Festival.
Willis Raburu had been chairing the committee until today October 30, 2023, when he quit.
