Media personality and life coach Muthoni Mukiri now says she does not do regular house chores like laundry and washing dishes.
Muthoni who was speaking on her Youtube channel says while she enjoys cooking and doing minor cleaning around the house, she always seeks help with laundry and utensils.
"I don't do house chores, I don't. I always get someone to help me. Even when I didn't have help like after I got married - I didn't have a sleep-in house help - I always had a day help. (Yule wa kulipa end month).
"Alikuwa anakuja every day to help me with the house chores. I'd only do things like cooking, arranging my house, cleaning my decor things but not like the main duties like laundry or utensils, I never used to do those things," she said.
Cooking and cleaning are some of the essential chores of any adult and while Muthoni Mukiri did not indulge in the topic it continues to create debates on social media with most pushing back housework as gendered and typical role of a wife.
The dynamics around the topic are now changing.
Speaking about motherhood, the mother of one says she is adjusting to her new role and happily so.
She said she is also happy to have taken an advice earlier on where she was warned against wasting her youth with marriage. She says that was one of the best advices she received from her mother.
"My mum is such a friend to me. She told me 'Muthoni don't get married too soon'. She gave me her own story, she got married in her late teenage years. She told me to take my time and enjoy my youth because she didn't get to do that herself," she said.
Meanwhile, Muthoni Mukiri and her husband welcomed her son Zen Ng'ang'a in March. She says she is not planning on revealing his face on social media.
