Nominated senator Karen Nyamu has defended Kikuyu vernacular artiste Lawrence Njuguna alias DJ Fatxo against claims that he was the main suspect in Jeff Mwathi's death.

Speaking in the latest episode of Reke Ciume and Ene with Ala C, Nyamu stated that it was unfair for Kenyans to solely focus on Fatxo as the primary suspect when other people were in the house.

Sitaki kumsafisha Fatxo lakini pengine akilini mwake alijua hakufanya kitendo hicho lakini labda alijua. Hayo ni mawazo yangu tu, sisemi ukweli. Ninasema kile ninachofikiria kawaida," she stated.

"Even if it happened in his house, although he may know who did it, not him. It seems that when Jeff died, Fatxo was outside the house. The investigation shows that." she added.

At the same time, Nyamu also refuted claims that her baby daddy and Mugithi artiste Samuel Muchoki alias Samidoh did not follow up on the case of his nephew Mwathi's death.

She acknowledged that Samidoh was up in arms over the case and was always supportive towards Mwathi's family, especially his mother.

Nyamu also pointed out that she has been supportive towards the deceased's family by talking to them as often as possible.

"Of course, people judged him (Samidoh) wrongly. There is nothing he did not do. Even the lawyers who were handling the case are his personal lawyers. They are the ones who do his work and they are the same ones who were always in Kiambu all day with Jeff's mother," she stated.

Fatxo was embroiled in Mwathi's death case after he died under mysterious circumstances in Kasarani, Nairobi late February this year.

He was however cleared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after findings disclosed that he was not linked to his death.

"Pursuant to extensive investigations, the DCI came up with findings and forwarded that file to the DPP. The DCI did not find an iota of culpability that links our client to the said death or that purports to say that our client has any grey area in terms of Mwathi's death," the findings stated at the time.

"In fact, it is very clear that our client was not even in his house at the material time when his friend Jeff Mwathi met his death," the statement added.
