Lang'ata Member of Parliament (MP) Jalang'o has reinstated his former groundsman Eli Omundu who stole Ksh1 million from him.

Jalang'o interviewed Omundu on his YouTube channel where the groundsman narrated how he conspired with a former colleague Morrison Litiema to steal from the MP.

"Kulienda aje? (What happened?)" Jalang'o asked Omundu.

Omundu vividly recalled that it was on Saturday, June 4, 2023, when they were working and Litiema noticed the cash in a BMW and stole it before they fled together.

"Nakumbuka sana ilikua 2022 mwezi wa sita Saturday tarehe nne ndo tulikua tunafanya usafi hapa kidogo na ule ndugu. Lakini sasa ndugu alisema aliskia harufu ya pesa pale kwa gari ya BMW," Omundu said.

He added; "Mimi nilikua naosha Discovery Morisson anaosha BMW, na BMW ndo ilikua na pesa pale. Kutoka huko nyuma nakuta gate iko open nkashindwa ahh ndugu ameenda wapi. Nikiwa bado kwa ile harakati ya kumtafuta nkaona tayari naambiwa tumepostiwa hewani sasa ata mimi nkakua na uwoga ikabidi nikimbie nijifiche kwa sababu wananchi wanaweza chukua sheria mkononi."

"Nani alichukua pesa kwa gari? (Who picked the money from the car?" Jalang'o asked.

"Morrison," Omundu replied.

Omundu added that Litiema equally divided the stolen Ksh1 million between the two of them before they fled upcountry.

"Vile tulienda nkafika mahali nkapata ule ndugu tukasema sasa tumefanya na haikua kupenda pia na tayari umechukua hii mali tufanye aje? Ndo akasema tugawanye nusu nusu. Ju Morrison aliniambia alipata milioni moja mpya. Tukagawana mia tano mia tano," he said.

"Na sasa kwa nini muliiba pesa mingi lakini mulikua munasema mumeiba one million? (Why did you guys steal a lot of money yet you were saying you only stole Ksh1 million?) Jalang'o posed.

Omundu explained that Litiema told him he only stole Ksh1 million and gave him Ksh500,000 as his share.

"Sasa hio ingine mimi sikujua. Lakini milioni moja ndo nilijua mimi ata tukagawana nusu nusu," he said.

Asked how he fled from Nairobi to Bungoma, Omundu said that he bribed one of the drivers ferrying imported vehicles from Mombasa to Uganda.

"Kuna utu tu numberless tunatokanga Mombasa mbaka Uganda," he said.

Omundu added that the half a million that he got from the theft didn't help him because he spent most of the cash bribing people to buy their silence so that they couldn't sell him out to the police.

"Ukismama mahali wanajua ndo huyu anatafutwa sasa inabidi umpatie ile pesa anataka. Kujificha si mchezo," Omundu said.

"Unajua unajuta baadaye. Tulikua tunajuta tufanye aje ju sahi sasa tayari picha iko hewani huwezi tembea ata pesa yenyewe utanyang'anywa tu na hao wananchi," he added.

Omundu further told Jalang'o that Litiema was in Kikuyu, Kiambu county.

Forgiveness

Speaking during an interview on Milele FM in mid-June 2023 after Litiema and Omundu stole from him, Jalang'o said that he was ready to give the duo a second chance.

“I am ready to forgive them and even have them back as my employees here at home. Litiema just got a kid the other day so it is really unfortunate what they are getting their families into,” Jalang’o said.

He further confirmed that the duo stole from him slightly over Ksh1 million in cash which was in his wife's car.

“I was back very late in the night from some campaign meetings. I had gone out that previous evening with my small car because I did not want the attention as you know with my candidacy and all that. Coming home I went straight to bed.

“In the morning my kid needed to take something from the boot of that car so I gave her the keys, at this time Litiema and Eli had already arrived in the compound ready to start work as usual. They wanted to wash that car so they did but on seeing the money in there, I think they got the evil idea to run away with it.

“Just a little over Ksh1 million. This is not much compared to what they were about to start getting from the deals we were working on for them. Right now they have spoiled that chance and will always be on the lookout while on the run. That is not a life worth living so they should come back already.”
