Kenya Air Force Huey crashed in Lamu County on Monday, September 18, 2023, at night, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed
In a statement, the department said all the occupants were killed including the crew and other military personnel onboard.
The plane was on a night patrol in the coastal county for the ongoing Operation Amani Boni.
"The crew and other military personnel onboard were part of an air surveillance squadron intensifying day and night patrols and surveillance of ongoing Operation Amani Boni. The leadership and entire KDF fraternity condole with the families of the crew," the Ministry of Defence stated.
So far the Ministry of Defence has not confirmed the exact cause of the accident.
"A Board of Inquiry has been constituted and dispatched to the scene to establish the cause of the incident."
