Legendary comedian Dave Chappelle’s Kenyan concert has been sold out a few hours after being shared on Instagram.
The show which is set to occur on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, seems to have been one that was much anticipated.
Bearing in mind that the tickets were going for Ksh7,000 and were sold out that fast, it must have come as a surprise to many Kenyans.

Just two hours after the Punchline Comedy posted on their Instagram, the Kenyan host said that the tickets were sold out.
Chappelle’s first time in Kenya
Being his first performance in Kenya, this was a quick confirmation of how famous Chappelle is and the popularity surrounding his performance.
The concert holds a no-phone policy, something Chappelle has always highly advocated. It will be hosted at Louis Leakey Auditorium where the gates will open at 7:00 pm, East African time.
“The G.O.A.T himself Dave Chappelle, Live & Loud in Nairobi Kenya for one unforgettable night of standup comedy,” read part of the statement by Punchline Comedy.
Punchline Comedy team being the official hosts thanked Kenyan fans for their love and for showing out by buying tickets that fast.
“Nairobi! You showed up fast dave chappelle is sold out in just 2 hours,” Punchline stated.
One Kenyan comedian, Ciru Mwangi, expressed her joy in being placed as an opener for the event. Ciru cited that it was never her imagination to be an opener for such a big personality and yet her dream is coming true.
"I will be one of two opening acts for Dave Chappelle🙂 Even in my wildest dreams, I had not seen this one," Ciru wrote.
Kenyans on the other hand were caught by surprise, some requesting for a bigger location and an opening to buy tickets. Below are some of their reactions;
