Comedian cum digital creator Andrew Duncan Oduor, popularly known by his stage name 2mbili has advocated for digital content creation governing body days after Kenya Film Classification Board(KFCB) license saga.

Speaking during an interview at K24TV, the comedian said that it's important for digital creators to be under a regulatory body that monitors the kind of content they produce to help curb unrealistic and misleading content.

Sisi kama wasanii I think on the other side we must be under something that governs the kind of content that we do not just wake up and do coz we have seen over the online streets we are dropping unrealistic, not worthy content, content that is misleading lazima tuwe na regulatory body yenye in govern just like the film,” he stated.

“We wake up and everybody wants to produce content but when we are in a body it will regulate again KFCB should bring us together or write to us that content creators this is what you will benefit,”.

Bizarre outfit, Cairo trip

Comedian 2mbili showed up for the interview in an unfinished suit when asked about his outfit, the funny man said that the look is called an unfinished look or hurry me look.

Adding that he always downloads his outfits.

"The look inaitwa hurry me look am unfinished suit unajua nimechelewa mumeniharakisha mimi hu download manguo kidogo nikazimiwa hotspot before nimalize kudownload," he explained.

Disclosing about his hyped Cairo trip, the comedian revealed that the trip was scheduled for June.

"First of all Cairo ni safari ya June so wasee waache kuniuliza maswali kwa streets the thing is the ride to Cairo was scheduled for June the rest of the things I was doing road ya gari so muache kuniuliza maswali mingi kwa streets ata nisipo kujibu just feel like you are in Cairo," he said.

KFCB License

Commending on the KFCB's letter that was later withdrawn, 2mbili said that they should have consulted the digital creators first before sending them letters adding that they should also be given the benefits of registering under them(KFCB).

“I received the letter from KFCB and the thing is kama kawaida everything has two sides number one they were to consult the artist first not just send letters I don’t think there was an artist who was consulted or even without consulting, they should have given a notice before,"

"They should give us the benefit of registering or being under them I know they will be benefiting from us,” he explained.

KFCB on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, asked a section of YouTubers to acquire the requisite filming license however, the board’s chairperson Njogu wa Njoroge through his official social media account ordered the management to withdraw the notices served to the YouTubers which required them to license their channels.

“withdraw the notices and organize for an engagement with all the stakeholders we should be talking about thousands of opportunities, if not hundreds of thousands of jobs in the digital media,” he said.
