Police in Mombasa on Tuesday gunned down three suspected terrorists in a dawn raid at their hideout in Likoni.

The terror suspects were shot dead inside a rented room at Sashaman Dudus area in Likoni Sub-County.

Police said the bedsitter had been rented by another terror suspect, Fawaz Ahmed Hamdun, one of the most wanted Al-Shabaab operatives.

In the room, police found 68 air rifle pellets, 5kg of ammonium nitrate, nine balaclavas, military and police uniforms, military holsters and porches, rifle oil, six machetes and three knives.

Hamdun, who is alleged to have been involved in the DusitD2 attack that left 21 people dead, was arrested on Sunday at King'orani area in an undercover operation undertaken by a multi-agency team.

He was arraigned before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Edna Nyaloti on Monday where police sought to detain him for 20 days to complete investigations.

The suspects have not yet been identified and their killing comes just a day after a terror suspect linked to DusitD2 attack was arrested.
