Bold Network Africa Founder Makena Njeri has strongly hit out at parents who are against the LGBTQ community.
In a Q & A session on her Instagram page, the LGBTQ activist highlighted reasons she thinks have made African parents to be against the community.
Makena said the main reason is the environment most of them were brought up in and being too lenient on religion and its ideologies.

“I think it’s a mixture of many things; how they were brought up, the brainwashing that religion has done to their generation, ignorance and lack of education around the queer community,” she said.
Makena noted that as much as little can be done, it is important to keep pushing, never give up and slowly educate them about the community.
“How to solve it. Do not give up! I know it’s hard but educate them slowly. Understand that their journey and your journey are different then go ahead and live your life,” she added.
Makena Njeri to have kids
In a past interview, Makena said she would want to be a parent in future, adding that being a mother is an exciting moment that she would love to experience.
She further explaining how much she loves kids, noting that she is looking forward to teaching her kids how to love everybody equally.
"I will definitely want to be a parent in the future and am absolutely excited to be a parent and everybody who knows me, knows how I love kids," Makena said.
"I’m just preparing to raise them and teach them how to love everybody and to be in this world that is getting crazier by the day,” she added.
No dating
In April this year, Makena declared that she is single and not willing to get into a new relationship at the moment.
This follows her highly publicized break up with businesswoman and brand influencer Michell Ntalami.
“Loving on myself this season. No dating,” she wrote.
Interestingly, the declaration came days after Makena and her ex, Ntalami were spotted together during a music concert in Nairobi.
She later clarified their meeting, noting that they are just friends and they happened to bump into each other during the show.
"We are friends. My advice is that it is always good to be Bold. We all strive to learn from our mistakes and live a better life. No enmity. The two most powerful warriors are patience and time," Makena said.
Makena Njeri on quitting church
As earlier reported on K24 Digital, Makena said she stopped going to church after coming out as a member of the LGBTQ community.
She said she felt judged and unwanted by members of a church that she frequented.
"I have said this so many times. I am a Christian I love going to church, but I stopped going to church when I came out as gay. Immediately I walked into the church I no longer felt safe anymore
“From the priest, the women, the choir, the people seated next to me, were like what are you doing in the church and we watched your Ted Talk two days ago?” She posed.
Makena came out as gay on May 19, 2021.
“I remember for the first time in my life after very many years, I looked in a mirror and said to myself, ‘I am gay, I am unique, and this is my truth
“This was a victory for me, but what I didn’t know was just this was the beginning of my journey to boldness,” Makena declared.
