Ex-MP Reuben Ndolo skips court, claims he fell i*l on his way to Milimani

Former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo has been directed to appear in court on Wednesday to plead to charges of threatening to kill Rashid Hamid, the director of Richland Properties Limited.

Nairobi Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku made the directive after Mr Ndolo was a no-show in court on Monday to answer to death threat charges pressed against him.

The former MP claimed he fell sick on his way to court.

Through his lawyer, the court was informed that that the ex-lawmaker while in police custody got health complications that led him to be taken to Nairobi West Hospital, where he was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

As a result, the police officers released him on a cash of Sh50,000 to seek treatment.

Ndolo was expected to be charged alongside six others with creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace and threatening to kill a city trader.

All accused person but the ex-legislator pleaded not guilty to all charges read out to them.

Death threat

It is alleged that Mr Ndolo and Daniel Otieno uttered words threatening to kill Rashid Hamid.

This is said to have happened at Bustani Gardens on Oledume Road on August 16, 2019 at 18:45 pm.

Mr Ndolo and MrOtieno are further charged alongside George Otieno, Cyrus Nyamboga, Benard Ochieng, Dick Otieno and Hassan Dima for allegedly creating disturbance by forcefully breaking into the gates of the said Bustani Garden, intimidating and kicking out security guards from the premises.

The court released the second accused person on a cash bail of 200,000 or an alternative bond of Sh300, 000 with a surety of similar amount.

But Mr Ochieng and Mr Dima were released each on a cash bail of Sh30, 000 or an alternative bond of Sh50,000 since they only faced one count.

The prosecution was also requested to verify the authenticity of the medical documents presented in regards to Mr Ndolo's health.

The case will be mentioned on Tuesday for the court to set hearing date.
