The by-election for the Kibra Constituency will be held on November 7, 2019, the electoral commission has announced.

The seat fell vacant following the death of MP Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer on July 26.

"IEBC has set 7th November, 2019 as the date for the Kibra Constituency MNA by-election. Gazette Notice No. 7378," said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission on Monday via their Twitter handle.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi officially declared the seat vacant last Wednesday.

Several aspirants have expressed interest in running for the seat, with at least three seeking the coveted Orange Democratic Movement's ticket.

Ken Okoth's brother, Imran, is one of the aspirants who have declared interest in the parliamentary seat.
