Yusuf Noah, popularly known as Refigah, will fly the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) flag in the August 9 general election.

This was after he was today handed the nomination ticket to vie for the Kibra Constituency parliamentary seat on the party's ticket.

The former music executive and founder of recording house Grandpa Records, received his ticket from DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi at the party's headquarters in Nairobi.

Refigah said he was ready for the office, which he will use to amplify and offer solutions to the constituent's concerns.

"Today, the official journey for liberating the people of Kibra begins. We officially received our DAP-K nomination certificate to signify a new beginning full of hope for the great people of Kibra.

"On that note, we take this opportunity to thank my family, our friends, supporters and the silent majority who cheered me on to offer myself as your member of Parliament, a call I have humbly accepted," he said.

He added; "As we embark on this journey, we commit to discussing issues and not our opponents, tackle our people's problems and not discuss our opponents' personalities and to only advance the interest of Kibra Constituency with the aim of improving our people's social welfare.

"Our aim is to deliver to the people of Kibra irrespective of their religion, tribe or political inclination. This is because, as people of Kibra, we are known to speak in unison, which is a great asset that we must continue investing in and enjoying," he said.

Refigah also said that the task is not in getting the nomination, but it is in serving the people of Kibra when he takes over as the next MP.

"It's important to note that the journey has only begun and the major work lies between now and August 19, 2022, when we hope to officially begin serving the great people of Kibra from parliament," he added.

He will be looking to unseat the incumbent Imran Okoth, who is looking to retain the post through the Orange Democratic Party.
