Eleven students from Kerugoya Girls High School in Kirinyaga County have been arrested in connection with Sunday evening fire that gutted a dormitory in the education facility.
According to Kirinyaga Central Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Ndege, seven students were arrested last night while four were arrested this morning.
The suspects, Ndege said that they are being held at Kerugoya Police Station and are helping the authorities to carry out investigations in a bid to uncover how the Sunday events unfolded ahead of the torching of the dormitory.

"Seven students were arrested last evening while four were arrested this morning. They are assisting in investigations to establish the real cause of the fire," he said.
Ndege also said that the school has been closed to give room for renovation of the affected dormitory.
During the last night's fire, at least 42 students who had been rushed to Kerugoya Level 4 Hospital had been discharged.
The students had inhaled large amounts of smoke.
However, no one suffered any burns from the fire that gutted at least 145 beds.
