A friend to the four cousins who were killed in Kitengela, Kajiado county has opened up on how he survived death after he was late to join the deceased.

Julius Muoki, 25, who addressed the media on Tuesday said that he is alive today because of the miracles of God. He said that he had forgotten his backpack at home and had no option but to go back and collect it.

His four friends, namely; Freddiel, Mike George, 29 and Nicholas Musa, 28, were allegedly killed after they were mistaken for being cattle thieves.

His revelation comes just moments after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti said that the main suspect in the murder of the four identified as Benson Melonyie ole Mungai had been nabbed within Kitengela town where he has been hiding.

“I just cannot believe it, were it not for the fact that I went back for my backpack, I could have also been killed together with my friends,” said a shaken Muoki.

He narrated how after picking his backpack, his friends neither responded to his calls nor his messages 30 minutes after they parted ways.

He said that he was shocked to learn that his friends had been killed on an incident that is now turning out to be a mistaken identity.

The deceased had left their home in Syokimau on Sunday, August 8, and headed for a birthday party in Isinya where they spent their night.

The following day as they were returning home, they were ambushed after they stopped to repair one of their motorbikes. They were killed on the spot.

On Monday, August 16, Private Bikers Association held demonstrations in Kitengela town as they called for the police to speed the investigations and ensure the killers are brought to book.

The bikers were led by activist Bonface Mwangi and they made rounds within Kitengela as they called for justice for the four.
