Tononoka Secondary School principal Mohammed Khamisi has died of Covid-19 a week after infections were reported among 11 teaching staff.

His death was confirmed on Monday, October 26, 2020, by the school's deputy principal, Benjamin Kitsao Nzaro.

The principal had been receiving treatment in an intensive care unit at the Coast General Hospital for the last five days.

Last week, Tononoka Secondary School and Star of the Sea were ordered closed amid fears of mass infections.

Khamis will be buried today at 3 pm at Kikowani cemetery in tradition with Islamic interment rituals.
