Images of six men have been released following a homophobic assault on a gay couple in East London, Metro UK reports.

It happened at around 5.30pm on October 1, when two men in their 20s were walking along High Road, Chadwell Heath.

The couple were targeted by a gang and one of them viciously attacked one of the men with a ‘wooden panel with nails in it’.

Callum Griggs, 23, spent 13 hours in A&E as a result, where medics glued together a gash in his eye.

His partner Brad Balueta was not injured but the pair were left distressed.

The incident is being treated as a homophobic hate crime by the Metropolitan Police.

No arrests have been made and enquires continue.
