Shock rocked Kolong village in Emgwen constituency, Nandi County after a woman allegedly hacked a 13-year-old boy to death for defiling her daughter.

The woman identified as Zeddy Cheptoo,28, is said to have attacked the 13-year-old Allan Kipyego when she found him in the act with her 3-year-old minor attracting the attention of the locals.

According to the police report, Cheptoo later reported the incident to authorities through a mobile phone requesting protection from the irate residents baying for her blood.

Confirming the incident, Nandi Central Police Commander, David Anyir said police officers arrived at the scene where they were confronted by a chaotic crowd.

"The woman was successfully rescued although some of the police officers got injured in the scuffle. The suspected woman sustained critical injuries and she was taken to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital for treatment alongside her daughter," he said.

One of the witnesses -Japhet Lagat noted that Cheptoo allegedly slit the deceased neck with a panga when she met him in her house.

"It is believed that Allan sneaked into Cheptoo's house and found the minor alone and defiled her. The minor's screams attracted the mother's attention who rushed to check what was happening and found him in the act," he said.

It is said that the deceased was an alleged serial rapist and he is in the police record for a defilement case last year. He was however confirmed to be mentally challenged and the court released him as not suitable to stand trial.

The angry residents in retaliation set a blaze in Cheptoo's house and killed her two livestock that were in the compound.

Meanwhile, the evacuation of the deceased remains turned futile after residents pelted police with stones forcing them to leave the place.

"The body has not been recovered and we are trying to reach out to the elders," Anyir noted.
