Two pilots were killed in a plane crash after a stunt for a gender-reveal went horribly wrong earlier this week.

The crash occurred off the coast of Cancun city in Mexico above the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday, March 30.

According to Mexican news outlets, the couple and their guests were watching the gender-reveal stunt from their boat.

Sounds of cheers quickly turned into screams of horror as the onlookers noticed that the aircraft was heading directly to the water.

Just before the crash, according to The Mirror, one of the onlookers had jokingly remarked: "It's all good as long as it doesn't end up crashing into us".

The Mexican navy responded to the incident and pulled out of the water the pilot and his co-pilot.

Unfortunately, one died during the rescue while his colleague died while receiving first aid on land.
