Those who claimed we grabbed Uhuru Park can now take pictures of great work we’ve done with Expressway – Uhuru claims

President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Thursday, December 23, 2021, come out to thank everyone who has taken part in the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway.

Speaking during the inspection of the project, the President revealed that the project which is now near completion will be ready for use in March next year.

He said that the completion of the project was made possible by the joint work of all the stakeholders involved including the Chinese government, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the contractors.

"I want to thank everybody; the ministry, the contractor, the Chinese government, the security agencies who have ensured that people have been able to work on a 24-hour basis," the president said.

President Uhuru who praised the work done by the constructors on the project also noted that the construction of the expressway has been beneficial to the country.

He said that the project created jobs for Kenyans as well as created a beautiful scene for Nairobi City.

The President said that they have managed to do this despite various challenges including opposition from activists.

"200 sub-contractors have benefited from this project and all this we have achieved despite the crisis of Covid-19 that we are facing," he said.

"Those who claimed that we grabbed Uhuru Park, you can now take pictures for people to see what is going on. This project is meant to improve the lives of Kenyans as well as make them proud of their city, Nairobi," he added.
