Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspected fraudsters who were promising members of the public jobs at the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company in exchange for money.

In a statement, DCI said the two suspects, David Thuo Njehia and Kyalo Kilonzo, had obtained over Ksh880,000 in bribes from the public.

"Posing as employees of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, the duo have been taking advantage of desperate Kenyans seeking employment by promising to offer them jobs in government agencies and state corporations," the statement read in part.

DCI said the two were arrested moments before they received an additional Ksh100,000 from a gullible jobseeker whom they had promised a job at the company.

"Upon interrogation, it was established that the miscreants are habitual fraudsters wanted by detectives based at Dandora after they previously jumped bail for a similar offence," DCI added.
