Sonko charged with graft, over 10 counts of conflict of interest

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday was charged with other 10 counts of corruption and conflict of interest over irregular tendering.

The Nairobi governor denied the charges of conspiracy to commit economic crimes and conflict of interest levelled against him.

The City Hall boss was charged alongside Mr Antony Otieno Ombok (ROG Security director), Fredrick Odhiambo (T/A Enterprises partner), Web Tribe Ltd directors Danson Muchemi Njunji and Robert Muna, and Zablon Onyango Ochomom (agent).

However, Web Tribe directors were not in the courtroom with their lawyer telling Nairobi Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti that they were turned away when they presented themselves before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

The lawyer told the court they were informed to appear only when summoned.

The prosecution, through James Kihara, did not objected to the request to have the company and it's two directors Muchemi, Mureithi and Onyango, who were are not present, to take their pleas on Tuesday.
