Shock as police recover sacks of bhang from private c*r involved in tragic accident

A Saloon car transporting sacks of bhang on Monday, October 11 got involved in a grisly road accident in Sachangwan, Bomet County.

Bomet Central Sub-County police commander Musa Omari Imamai said that the car of registration number KCZ 197J had two occupants who were taken to Kaplong Hospital.

“The car had two occupants who were seriously injured following the accident. Already, investigations into where the bhang was being transported to have commenced,” Imamai said.

Witnesses say that the motor vehicle was being driven at a neck-breaking speed and the driver lost control of it.

Joseph Muma a local said that the driver must have lost control of the vehicle which saw the car roll severally after it veered off the road.

“The car was being driven at a very high speed and the driver lost control of it and the vehicle rolled severally,” he said.

According to Gilbert Rotich, the area is now turning out to be a hotspot since a number of vehicles usually get involved in accidents within the area.

Rotich said that the driver and another passenger were rushed to hospital in critical condition.

“They were really injured as we rushed them to the hospital. We were shocked to find a number of sacks full of bhang in the car,” he said.

This comes just a day after another accident involving a tractor and a matatu left two people dead and eleven others injured.

The accident took place a few meters from where the car transporting bhang also rolled severally.

Police say that the accident occurred after a matatu collided with a tractor near the Sachangwan area and the 11 passengers sustained serious injuries.

One person died on the spot while the driver died while receiving treatment at Tenwek Mission Hospital.
