A secondary school principal lost her life and two other colleagues sustained serious injuries after a vehicle they were traveling in hit a stationary vehicle on Naivasha-Mai Mahiu Road.

The three were heading to pick KCSE examination papers at the Naivasha Sub-County offices when their driver hit a trailer that had broken down near Jikaze IDP camp, several kilometres to Mai Mahiu town.

The deceased was the principal at Jeremiah Gitau Secondary School, a private school in Mai Mahiu, while the rest were principals at Kiambogo Secondary School and Mustard Seed Secondary School.

Preliminary reports show the Jeremiah Gitau Secondary principal died on the spot.

The two others were taken to Kijabe Mission Hospital. Doctors said their condition is serious but stable.

Following the Monday morning accident, education officials led by Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development boss, Dr. Julius Jwan, went to the affected schools to ensure the exams kick off smoothly.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the accident.
